Thanks once again to the maintainer of the apneahollow tumblr page for making the job of updating mine a lot easier… another repost - this time from one of the last sets Apnea and I shot together… shot in Portland while attending to some legal matters. When life gives you rain make mudpies…

She and Chase have produced some extraordinary stuff and have been working on a full length film. As for me, I’ve apparently extended my hiatus from photography a bit longer and postponed the epic comeback until further notice. I closed my studio in DTLA, packed everything into overpriced storage and bought a ridiculous vintage 1972 motor home that even Bill Murray might envy*… I’m still teaching one-on-one sessions on lighting/shooting/editing and may do some new workshops soon.

I’m planning a gallery show in LA for January 2013 stay tuned for more details.

I’ve been reflecting, enjoying life, and incubating… finalizing the details of some new projects. I’m looking forward to reclaiming my place in your hearts and minds… and to being your favorite photographer again :)

Mosh and I in SF doing a demo for the Zivity Workshop . I recently came across this BTS shot on the web - taken by Christopher Ambler aka CAMBLER. He’s got to know when to hold em… and clothes… he can fold em. Knows when to walk away… knows when to run.

When I put on workshops I encourage attendees to ask questions as they pop up instead of waiting til the end… I personally have an attention span of about 4 maybe 5 minutes and would either get frustrated or forget entirely… where was I… oh yes - and others might be having the same thoughts or questions and it keeps things flowing and questions lead to more questions… and usually answers… When it all comes together the topics and exchanges hopefully lead to a good old fashioned shift in perspective.

I look rather odd - stopping in the middle of shooting from a low position to roll over and have a discussion while staring at the ceiling. Mosh was also caught in kind of an in-betweener position between poses - I’m not exactly sure what’s happening but she always keeps it interesting.

I like how confusing and oddly timed this capture of a tiny slice of that day is… I usually try so hard to sync things together and think about how they “read” it’s odd and kind of funny to see shots like this…

I wish I had more documentary/journalistic style shots of some of the crazy moments and milestones of the past few years. I’m trying to loosen up and share more behind the scenes images and videos, look for more here soon.

If you have any I may not have seen I’d love to see them - especially if any one involved in Chad Michael Ward’s Pain Box project has any of the BTS shots of me as Dr. Monster or in makeup hah : )

Hope everyone is well, you may have noticed I’ve been off the grid for a few months. I shut down my LA studio and moved most of my stuff into storage. Bought another bigger, older RV. Free bird. It’s about to get really weird. More on that soon :)

I’m enjoying all the awesome work being posted here I still have a lot of catching up to do.

This was a great afternoon in spite of a slight hangover from the Rubberball weekend. I had just been published for the first time internationally in Skin Two with a feature by Tony Mitchell (who would prove to be a long time friend, party monstering co-pilot, and ally).

Bob Carlos Clarke called and chatted her up while we had tea and planned the afternoon in a small coffee shop/bar in central London. Andy from GothicImage saved the day letting me borrow his 1ds when the uterus finally dropped out of my 10d. Apnea was on a shoot with Kumi somewhere outside of London covered in custard. I couldn’t have been further away from Texas. …and I felt like I was in wonderland.
